How We Use AI

PartyMinder was designed from the start with AI in mind. But unlike most platforms, we’re not outsourcing our intelligence to third-party APIs. We’re staging and training our own language model (LLM) so members know where their data lives, how it’s used, and what to expect.

Our Approach

• Self-Hosted Model
  We operate our own LLM on infrastructure we control. That means your conversations, menus, and event details never leave our servers for external AI providers.
• Domain-Specific Training
  Our model is not a generic chatbot. We train it on event planning data, food and dietary guides, hosting best practices, and the flow of real conversations inside PartyMinder. Training happens on anonymized datasets so member privacy is preserved.
• Integrated with Our Platform
  AI runs inside the same system that powers events, conversations, and communities. Every AI request is logged in our partyminder_ai_interactions table, giving us visibility into usage and costs, and giving you confidence that the system is accountable.

What AI Will Do for Members

• Event Planning Assistant
  Suggest menus, timelines, and supply lists based on guest counts, dietary restrictions, and budget.
• Menu Analysis
  Check guest RSVPs against planned meals to highlight allergy conflicts or gaps.
• Invite Help
  Suggest wording for invitations and replies to make communication smoother.
• Conversation Support
  Provide lightweight suggestions for discussion starters or summaries of long threads.
• Community Insights
  Surface common themes and useful information from your circles, without distorting them through engagement algorithms.

Features, Limitations, and Constraints

• Assistive, Not Autonomous
  AI never creates events, sends invites, or posts on your behalf. You are always in control.
• Transparency First
  Every AI-generated plan or suggestion is clearly marked so you know which text came from the model and which came from members.
• Bounded Context
  Our LLM is trained for PartyMinder use cases only. It won’t answer unrelated questions or behave as a general-purpose search engine.
• Privacy by Design
  Data used for training is anonymized and stripped of personal identifiers. Sensitive details like guest names, emails, and private notes are never included.
• Performance Limits
  To ensure smooth hosting, AI responses are cached and subject to rate limits. We’d rather give you a fast, reliable helper than a slow, overloaded one.
• Early Stages
  Today, AI powers meal planning and invite assistance. Over time, we’ll expand into real-time conversation support, federated event discovery, and personal hosting insights.
